    Installing Pertronix Electronic Ignition

    Hi All,

I am slowly getting through the to do list so i can get my car registered and on the road. I have purchased a Pertronix electronic Ignition, is there any tips before i install this ? I am a bit concerned if it doesn't work as where I currently have the car is not readily accessible via flat bed tow truck. Its in an under cover car park which has height issues.

Does any one have any tips, as I am a bit nervous about not being able to put the points back in if the car doesn't start. Also do i need to adjust the timing straight away or can i get me porsche mechanic to adjust this when i transport the car to him ?

Thanks again for all the help and advice

Hi Clayton, you can simply fit these units straight into the distributor. However, it is always better to get an ignition specialist to do this job. While they are doing the conversion they can, at the same time check the advance curve, and condition of the bushes in the dissy body, making any repairs needed as they go. That way you only do the job once, and yes the timing will require resetting when the unit is fitted.
