    Harness Bar DIY question

I'm getting ready to install a harness bar that attaches to the B pillars, and so I need to remove the original shoulder belt from the same. Without the ability to see how it's mounted I assume there is just a bolt with a collar that attaches the belt. But there is also a really nice original plastic cover that I must first remove to get to that bolt . . . and I don't want to bugger-up this plastic cover.

Does anyone know how to remove this plastic cover without damage?

    Thanks,
    Tom Ching

    Tom,

You remove it by pushing it straight up ... it's attached by friction fit over the hardware.... to reattach just push it down over the hardware...

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers

Hey Chuck . . . yes on my 73T that is exactly how it works, but on the 69 it won't budge. I've been told I need a very skinny 17mm open-end wrench to slide in between the B-pillar and the belt attachment. And by the looks of it I need a wrench about 1/4" thick.

    This should be fun.

    Sorry Tom,

    Thought you ment the '73.....

    Not sure about your '69

However, if you're in need of super thin metric wrenches, go to a bicycle shop/store and buy a set of 'cone wenches' ....

    Hope this helps..... take two...

Great advice . . . I would have never thought of that.
