    rear soft versus hard window targas

    i am looking at a 68 912 targa tomorrow with a rear hard window. when did factory change from soft to hard window? thanks, gary

    I'm pretty sure the hard window come on the scene in 68. Soft windows were apparently an option through the early seventies although I think 69' was the last year any were actually ordered that way for the US. This info comes from a restorers handbook I was reading awhile back.

    +1 - this is my understanding. You can look for the holes where the lever arms go on the trailing edge of the Targa bar to tell if the car you are looking at is an original Softie. I do not have a pic, but somebody does, I'm sure.
