Road book set from the 911 team Waldegård drove in the East African Safari Classic rally. Came to me directly from someone who was key part of the team.

Not really my era so gathering dust on shelf however sharing image here of neat set because of the direct association and provenance ...

Various edits on pages made in pen to document route changes and so forth during the running of the event

Can anyone describe what this rallying was really like?
It seems like it would be sooooo expensive?
My dad wasn't poor. But he only had a 912. That he couldn't allowed to be banged up.
The other cars he had were Cadillacs.
But even today. You gotta spend 100k or even 200k. To drive your car through the woods and hit things.
I think it is awesome. And I would want to do it all day long.

Is it all just for the pure thrill of it?

Is it just a, I spent my $ and booze and cars and girls. The rest I sqandered?

Was it only for the weathly?

Was it just a challenge of man, machine, and a winding road?

I would love to do a transsyberia. Or Peking Paris. But I hear it's 70k plus.

Why did you not restore it with all the lights up front?
    And all the extra stickers?
    And the steel rims?
    And mud flaps?
    And chrome horn grills?

What surprised me the most is your approach to find a potential interesting car.
Impressive and congratulations for finding and then restoring the car

Just like the finnish AAW car, Waldegårds old -72 factory rallycross ST has survived too, although it´s in a present shape far from the mid -70:ies one Name: 69355095_10157727614284201_6113718953232564224_o.jpg
