Plates all clear except AUI1500 ( left) long before the many well known incidents including heavily crashed, rolled and burned at Kyalami.

Incidentally if memory serves me well both the RHD M472 first 500 series RHD cars have M650 and 651 on this an international rally. The 74 Carrera pictured is one of the rare RHD model 74 RS this white one being
originally the Porsche cars Great Britain / AFN car supplied for Nick Faure race on circuits.
after his prodsports championship win in the previous 2.7 RS also supplied by the U.K. importer. Attachment 555364
Somewhere I have a photo of Nick and I together looking over the nearly complete AUI1500 shortly before it was generally known that it would arise phoenix like from the ashes of the Kyalami incident.

I knew the place on Ireland was no longer doing work on Carreras had reverted to Roots Chrysler many decades back but through my grapevine discovered that they still had some NOS RS spares from those activities back in the day so I cleaned them out.

Note example of period team rally jacket as worn by Gillespie (far right). I’ve been in touch with Hunziker who reproduced them and some other team wear of that era — I like that this version is the burgundy with white similar hue to the service literature— they were made in U.K. late 60s / 70s but less commonly seen so less known about them than than the eye catching lime green / lighter red combos of similar style

Spoken to Hunziger who reproduced them for Porsche about one I have.
I didn’t get mine from the place on Ireland it is an original U.K. made jacket per the article, not a made by Hunziger repros

… mine is not the one sold on this auction
That distinctive maroon and white rally jacket again — think the other guy in the photo used to be in a British band back in the in sixties?

Looks like he needed a warmer jacket

1971 Circuit of Ireland has fleeting glimpses of 911 ( seem to be all of appropriate plate COI6 that i seem to recall was discussed some time ago in a thread here ) but Porsche 911 not as prevalent 1971 as the many Carrera RS entrants just a few years later

It is George Harrison from the Beatles. He was a dear friend of Sir Jackie Stewart and a TOTAL car nut.

He 'peddled' pretty well too back in the day.

I would imagine most who frequent here are old enough to know that Mark

JYS resplendent in his trademark tartan in the clubhouse where my son and I watched Silverstone GP a few weeks back as guests of the British Racing Drivers Club who own the circuit — he is ex-president.

The no caps rule inside clubhouse don’t seem to apply to him

Back to old, still rally photos

Elford 68 RAC — it would’ve been about that time I first started to get to the rally to watch with my dad - it went by on some well known special stages near my hometown; bit vague although memories of RAC passing through are more vivid as I got older.

Another Elford Harryman driving 911 T on 68 Royal Automobile Club Rally of Great Britain on winter 68. The 911 entrants retired I believe

that photo of Waldegaard and Helmer was at the 1970 RAC. You can tell because they had that big reversing light there but not at the Monte

I don't know if this image should go here. I only know ... that in traffic Spain the vehicle was recorded as 911-R prior to year 71.
