    Hard Starting 911 S

    Hi:

I have a 1970 911 S. It is hard starting, but always turns over. It has zero smoke, does not miss and runs really strong.

Is it normal for an S to hard start or is something going on?

    Thanks for the advice.

Define "hard starting". Does it crank over too long? Does it have trouble turning over? Carbs or MFI?

    Kenik:

Factory MFI car. It always starts. It cranks for a while (longer than I think is normal) and then starts.

Is your starting enrichment circuit operable? I know that when my CIS Cold Start injectis disconnected, the car is very hard to start and get running.

I usually turn the key on but not to start, just to let fuel fill the accumulator
(sometimes a little while) then up throttle and then a full turn of the key to start and it'll start...cold days a little longer to start...
Also is your cold start functional?
