1970 911S motor number from VIN

    Hello

Looking for help here I have a VIN of 9110300434 which i believe is an early 1970 911S coupe. The owner believes the correct motor is in the car but given it's current condition I have my doubts.

Could someone give me an idea of what the number number should be (or the sequential range it should fall within) and where I should look for the number on the motor.

    Thank you

    Salut,

the engine number would be between 6300001 and 6302480 (911/02).

That narrows it down - it will be a 2.2L motor - did they have carbs in 1970 or MFI.

Sorry I'm quite ignorant about the correct configuration of a 911S.

    MFI ref : 0 408 126 009
    regulator number : EP/RLA 1/28R
    pump number : PED 6KL 60/120 R2

    MFI

Engine number, my best guess 6300600-650. Targas 41,8 of the coupe production, VIN 434*1,418=615. This is not accurate because coupes and targas where probably not produced at the same rate(for each coupe, 0,42 targas)

Is there any way to tell if it is actually a S engine? Specific markings, coding on parts? I believe the car now has carbs so the MFI won't help.

Could someone send me a photo of a proper S engine.

This car did not survive the 80's - read FG slant conversion. So I figure unless it has it's correct engine the S body isn't worth investing the time/money when the car would have so far to go to be correct.

Yes, give us the enginenumber and we can tell you what it is. It should also be a engine type number stamped near the engine number, 901/02 is a S engine type for 1970.

That means it is a replacement case - the next best thing to the numbers matching case.
