Thread: what kind of tank did I buy?

what kind of tank did I buy?

I was looking for a bigger tank than the 12 gallon fuel cell that is currently in my car, when a friend of a friend offered me a plastic tank for sale. I thought he was talking about an 85 liter tank, but this one is bigger. Looks like a 100 liter tank I once had, but that was a steel tank. This one is new, NOS? Complete with big filler neck and cap, plus new fuel gauge sender. Not sure if you can read it in the picture, but it says: K Kurz Hessental J01 005 0170, with a 1971 date stamp. I am sure somebody here knows what it exactly is? Thanks,
    Arjen

    Tank

That tank will not fit your car - you must sale it to me for the price you paid I believe that to be a kit for S/T. It is expensive and desirable. Seriously, if it does not meet your needs, I would trade a pair of sport seats for that kit.

Looks like a 110L. Very cool.

As stated above 110ltr ST / RSR tank. They are being reproduced in Germany from the original molds. So this could be one of the originals or one of the re-pops. The re-pros are being sold as a kit with filler neck, cap, sender, and strap.

    Mine in its furure home.

As a matter of interest, if all else being equal (original tank molds, etc), wouldn't the re-pop possibly be better to have because the plastics will be much fresher with better polymers in them than a tank produced so long ago?
