    1972 E Inspection - What to Look For

    Hey All

    New member here on the 911S forum. Am off to look at a 1972 911E this weekend here in Canada. Price seems reasonable (under 10K) for a driver quality car.

    Just wondering if there is anything specific to the E types that I should be covering on my inspection. Was this model or year prone to certian "issues or malfunctions" than others?

    Chassis rust is sometimes hard to spot if you aren't familiar with the cars.....look at the under side very carefully.

    Otherwise....buy it.....

    Under $10K is a smoking deal for a car in decent driver shape. But...and it's a big butt....look for rust in the front pan/suspension points, wheel wells, in the trunk..below the windshield...way back in the corners behind the trunk hinges, the rear deck, bubbling paint at the window posts, door jambs, rockers, etc. Don't let this list frighten you off. go for it. There are rust free...or close to rust free longhoods out there. I have one. i just had to media blast to bare metal to find out for sure.
