Thread: battery-spare area texture

    battery-spare area texture

My car has original paint. I'm currently removing some of the texture in the battery - spare tire area to treat some minor rust . What can I use to recreate the textured look prior to repainting. I intend to undercoat the bare metal with Por 15.

    Thanks in advance,

    Rob-
That texture is Wurth SKS Stonegaurd. You apply it with a Wurth undercoating gun. It's not too hard to reproduce the texture very accurately.

    Scott,

Thanks for the info. The area to be treated is small. Only the area of the battery boxes and the front portion of the trunk area in forward of the gas tank. Is the sprayer necessary and appropriate for such a confined area? Is there a spay can version?

    Thanks again,

For a small area like you discribe check this site out,

    http://members.aol.com/darryld/912OCT06.htm

The Wurth undercoat in a rattle can/ spray bomb leaves a smaller texture which by itself will stand out.

The Wurth SKS does match the origional texture well, but it's messy and the gun is just another expence, and that's if you have a compressor.

Good info from Classic. The Wurth stuff is water based, so you can fiddle with it a bit without much worry.
