Leistritz w/ 'no baffles' on youtube

Trying to get 'that sound' thanks to Vic Rola and others who brought wicked sounding cars to Tom's Rally a few weekends ago and i came across this clip on youtube:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1M6H07GOMuQ

Wow right? Pretty sure that's the sound. Not sure what dual tips do to it but my question is what does he mean by 'no baffles'? Is this a std. 1 out 'sport muffler' that has the two cutouts internally? Or is it nothing but a hollow 'can' w/ an outlet?

Would like to have seen/heard this thing doing a driveby at full throttle in 2nd gear then a quick decel into a turn just to see if it wouldn't be too loud (is that possible???).

I do like that sound; I Guess My Dansk is a out soon. I would assume that by "no baffles" it is ment that the baffles are removed from inside the muffler. A standard but OE 2 in one out.

I hear that alot of the baffles detach themselves over time (internally).

Well when you look at the 'upfixin' article there are two holes you are supposed to torch in addition to adding the '2 out' and patching the original '1 out'. it appears that the two torched holes are the real key to the sound.

i am reluctant to operate on my one and only Leistritz until i have aquired another and even then prices on good Leistritz mufflers are apparently not peanuts.

You are correct, Grasshopper. How many were made in the back yard? The number would be very very high. Vic did his for $50. That's in todays dollars. Imagine how cheap it was when I was 25 years younger???

Waiting to hear back from John A. re possible trade then going to town on my own. i'll just have to keep my eyes open for a std. Leistritz going forward as i really don't want to be without one....just in case.

I guess this was how Chuck got that amazing sound from his blue '70. Looked stock muffler-wise but the sound was just wicked.
