SWB lightening: Leave out Front Corner Weights?

    Hi guys,

What do you guys do about the front corner weights when lightening a SWB 911? It seems counter-intuitive to leave in 50lbs of weight in the car...

I understand why they were put there, I've taken weight out of the rear end by replacing the stock steel rear bumpers and license plate panel with a 911R fiberglass bumper. I'm replacing the front bumper with a fiberglass bumper. I've also removed sound deadening material, installed light-weight starter, lighter seats etc.
The doors and fenders remain stock. My hood is metal but non-magnetic, same for the rear deck lid (aluminum?)

Could the removal of the front corner weights be offset with more toe-in on the rear tires? (More Toe-in on the rear may not have been a viable solution for a production car as tire wear would be negatively affected).

    So, weights in or out?

    Cheers,
    n.

I have no problem with the theory that all men are created equal.

    Removal of bumper reinforcements....

In the 1968 brochure Information regarding Porsche vehicles used for Sports Purposes, they confirm removing the weights, which at the time were described as "bumper reinforcements":

Doh... I've got that manual and I didn't even bother checking it... I guess my instinct was right... light-weight is better!

As Colin Chapman used to say: "Just add lightness."
