    Members-only forums = less spam?

    I hate those @##%,@%#@,#%$@, filthy spammers. <Flammen,Donner und Blitzen>

I had previously been in favor of free forums, but now I am accepting the previous proposal for pay-to-play or at least have a more rigorous registration for forum use.

If there was a more involved registration process, requiring a membership, it would weed out the bad apples. Maybe there could be a forum membership just like joining the Registry but not requiring payment and being open to Porsche enthusiasts who do not own a Porsche or an early 911. These members would not have an official number, card, or receive the Esses, (without payment).

I think the forum will be cleaner. Or we can hire a hacker and hit-man.

That was why I posted this...

    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ad.php?t=21922

I wasn't very satisfied with the results it generated. Maybe members-only is the way to solve it.

members only will be a fantastic way to limit contributions by spammers.

    and many, many other folks.

who's gonna be the 'house' on this and set the over/under for how long before the forum ceases to exist in any meaningful fashion?

Maybe we need a system where paid up members can moderate away
posts by new users. It's bots that create this crap and they
just hit and run. Some kind of voting system may work, where
you need 3 individual financial members to vote down a post.

There's potential for abuse but we're all grown ups here and it's
unlikely to be used to censor Porsche related business.

I dont like to see those filthy ads when I hit "new posts"

    It offends me.

I would rather try to stop posts in the first place.
