    Paint Code Questions 6080 H

Hey guys I just purchased a 71 Coupe and it now is in Guards Red (go figure), however the original Paint Code is 6080 H. I can't find any trace of the original color on the car just curious if anyone has seen that color before. I've looked through all my books and haven't found one reference to 6080 so its a special order or to customer provided sample.

    Thanks for the tips!

A photo of the paint code would help me, however, is 8080 (silver metallic) a possibility?

that is all that is stamped on the door tag!

Here are the pictures of the car at the shop.

Right now the car is at the shop getting a quick once over, it has sat for close to 10 years. It cleaned up very very nice. Runs good as well.

    The good :
    Very Solid
    Nice Paint although incorrect
Great complete and original interior minus the steering wheel
    Metal S Spoiler
    Factory Air works
    Weber Carbs
3000$ Tranny rebuild when put in storage have receipts
    68k actual milage car.
Front suspension pan replaced at some time very very well.

    The Bad :
Wale-tail bolted on the factory decklid and done very poorly.
7 and 8s Fuchs from an SC
    Blacked out trim
    Window Tint
We are going to pull the engine and install a new base gasket on #3 , leaking for some reason.

Im not quite sure how to tackle it at the moment, removing the tail will help then slowly bring the exterior back to original.

There are a few spots that need attention which are surprising becuase it is such a solid car. But a little metal work around the front trunk seal channel. Magnet test was clean all around.

Can't seem to upload pictures right now. I will try in a little bit.

If you went strictly by 6080 that would indicate a Gulf Blue body and Silver metallic roof; ie: a two tone combo. Even then, 60 is a 1973 color code for Gulf blue according to my notes. Further, I don't know of any two tone combos.

Maybe someone here would be able to help?

Seems to be a custom order. How would one decipher a blend-to-color request? Contact the factory?

Until we see a photo of the data plate showing the paint code, and perhaps get a report on what the original color might have been, it is rather useless to speculate. A COA would tell the tale. I rather suspect it is 8080. It could be poorly stamped, or just a factory typo. It is not the right code for a custom color.
