    Early 911's Needed

Porsche Owners Club has 4 So Cal track days in November!

November 8th - Streets of Willow Drivers Clinic - The best opportunity to experience extended periods of throttle steering on the skidpad. You'll learn more in one hour about the handling of your car than you would in a year of auto-x events. (Or a lifetime of street driving.)

November 9th - Streets of Willow Short Track Event - (5) 20 minute run sessions with in-car instruction. Is there another organization in California that offers more track time and better in-car instruction? Nope.

November 15-16 - California Speedway Infield Short Track Event Weekend - For those of you interested in more than a ducks in a row photo op. Your chance to enjoy one of the premiere race facilities in the U.S. with two full days of in-car instruction.

Due to work, I'll only be out there on 11/15.

But I'm hoping to draw just one newbie from this club to the POC. One who has grown tired of just looking at pictures of early 911's on the track. One bored with just watching Steve McQueen fight for the lead in LE MANS. One ready to feel the rush of their Porsche 911 at 10/10's. Just one...

Slow is relative. Learn how to drive smoothly on the race line and you'll be amazed at the cars you'll pass driving off the line. Ask me how I know...

Be sure to contact Marty Mehtarian, POC head driving instructor, and tell him about your driving experience and your car so he'll hook you up with an appropriate instructor. Marty's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and maybe the fastest amateur 911 driver in California.

Go to the "In The News" area. Then click on the events you're interested in. You'll be taken to the 2008 calendar. There you can check out the upcoming events and lap times from previous events. If you want to compare your times at Streets, just remember that the POC runs the blow-pass and the back bowl. You can check your car classification with the GCR's. You can sign up on line or via fax. Or call Laurie at the POC office for more info. The number is listed on the site. If you're not already a POC member, you will need to join to enter an event. After you join and sign up, check in with Marty to get an instructor assignment. Or if you have enough track experience with other clubs, you can request a sign-off drive.

Hope to see you both out there. We need more momentum cars on the track.

Just found out that I'll be out of town for work for all four track days.

You guys run some fast laps for me.
