    Porsche Calendar Coins

So, I have recently started collecting Porsche calendar coins, and was wondering if anyone knew what year the first coin was issued with the calendar. Apparently the calendars were first printed in 1954, but I think the first coin didn’t appear until 1962? Can anyone confirm my findings? Thanx in advance for any information.

    Bernie,

The first one I have is from the 1970 calendar. The director of North American sales took his personal calendar off the wall of his office and gave it to me while I was at the factory discussing a warranty issue on my 1969 912.

You are correct. 1962 was the first year of the calendar coins.

    Bernie,

Just to add a little extra info here... Porsche has made the coins in 4 different metal types:

    1) Standard bronze

    2) Some type of goldish colored metal w/ a type of clear coating (very smooth to the touch)

    3) Sterling silver

    4) Solid gold (given to those who submitted one of the 5 best photos for the calendar that year)

It was 62. I found one in the door pocket of a 356B that I had bought. I sold it to a gentleman who needed this coin only to complete his collection. I remember him telling me how long he had been looking and that it was the hardest to find. Cool stuff.

    1963 Porsche Calendar Coin

I have the 1963 coin in bronze, given to me when I was 6 years old by an uncle who ran a spare parts shop in Lulea in Northern Sweden. I used to get merchandise that he got from suppliers and agents and this one has been in a drawer since many years. If anyone collecting those coins is interested I´m willing to sell it off. Please feel free to contact me!

    Hi.....
for my first answer on this forum i'll try to stay understandable ( i speak French sorry i'm not perfect: D )
Indeed, 1962 is the first year of issue of the calendars coins (you can show all the coins here http://users.skynet.be/fb739665/crbst_33.html
    on my litle web site
Attention in recent years i can show a lot of there are reissues (especially the first 10 years)
but it's easy to recognize it : reissues are thicker than the original one....

Great site to check the years of the medals.

I've now ascertained after nearly 20 years of ownership my '65 has the 1962-1967 medals glued to the dash board by the first owner of the car RF Angas- they are still there on the dash today......
