    Muffler skirt AutoCad Drawing -- Center only

    Hey all;

    chime in on this one. Here is a picture of an autocad drawing of the center section muffler skirt. there are a couple of differences. This is measured in standard the slots are 3/16th. this is not metric. Because of this, there are only 14 slots per segment, the original has 15.

    Looks fine, although if doing this why not just draw in metric? Autodesk and other programs will draw in either, then you can convert. If you will be sending this out to a shop as a dxf file anyway, the machine does not care metric v. SAE.

    I was not sure what my fabrication options were. I kept it sdandard to make it easy. I Will draw up a metric one as well. thanks -- rr

    Have you considered the muffler skirt center section pictured in Dr.Johnsons 911/912 Restorers Guide Book,(1988,99 edition) page #34 showing an unusual and simpler more agressive looking skirt for the 901/02 with just four sections for slots versus the more traditional six sections. I have NEVER seen another like it in pictures or in the metal..I could be game for one of those!
    Also, the only diffeerence between the two side elements for the muffler skirt is I believe the length to accomodate the differing SWB & LWB rear bumpers.It is just a matter of sniping off the end to better fit the LWB {shorter} bumper. Of course it would be better to have the manufacture lazer cut etc. to make it a clean cut.Tin snips might work though . Short cut side skirts look not good on a SWB bumper[longer bumper].Mis matched ones look even worse though all are interchangeable if no one is lookking.....Cliff

    You have not taken into account the curvature of the part .

    update

    I have gotten thte parts back from the laser cutter, and they look great. Hopefully next week I can do the bending and shaping. I now have access to a sheet metal break and an english wheel. I also found someone that does a good bit of frabrication. Hopefully I can post an update soon with pictures.
