    Found my original engine

I was at Mayo Performance a couple of weeks ago and ran into the guy I sold my original engine to thirty years ago. He's putting a 3.2 twin plug in his car and won't be using my old one, so he's selling it back to me. I went by yesterday to look at it and got a photo.

Getting my old car back was amazing enough, but now to have the engine is really something!

That is super sweet. An aluminum block to boot. You can help me with my research also. I need the third # next to the 901/14 that indicates the build sequence. This is the earliest 901/14 I can add to my list.

Thanks, guys- I appreciate it. The current plan is to rebuild the original engine and get it back in the car. I'll be selling the 2.7 after that happens...

davep- I'll get the build sequence number for you and post it here. Do you know the cut-off engine number when the case went to magnesium?

That was fast! Thanks for the numbers. I've left a message for the guy that has the engine. I should hear back from him today and will post the build sequence. It's hard to see in the photo I have, but it looks to be 18956- does that sound right?

3280461 is 11397 so 10956 would be closer.
Somewhere between 11700 and 13000 is where the aluminum to magnesium change takes place. This is early to mid model year 1968. Anyone with a 1968 engine is encouraged to send me the three numbers from their engines (serial, type and the build #).
