    '66 911, very nice, very original, $59K

Due to a miscommunication between me and Wayne the car will not be going to Tony, price is still $59,000.

Original paint, except front left fender due to fluid spill, prior to 1973
    Original interior
    All matching numbers
Last registered with black plates - 1975, currently registered to original plates (TES990), very cool
Stored inside garage in El Cajon, CA, since 1973
    Gas heater
    No accidents
    No rust
    One owner
All mechanicals freshened to original specifications in 2008 by Wayne Baker
Side window brightwork rechromed, engine hardware replated
Excellent candidate for preservation class with minimal effort

    Interior pics

The car is going to Tony. He is going to correct the interior using only the original materials currently in the car. Cost is expected to be $2,600. Accordingly the price is now $61,600. I'm sure it will be beautiful and I can't wait to post pics.

These pictures are as the car was before going to Tony.

The interior is 100% original with no tears, rips or stains.
There are speaker holes in the map pouches. Tony thinks he has originals but can't find them since his move.
The headliner has typical stains on the perimeter, the plan is to have Tony re-dye it.
The front seats fabric is perfect but drivers seat needs restuffing, plan is to have Tony restuff both seats.
Unobtainium front rubber floor mat is in excellent condition.
Dash is perfect, original radio looks perfect (doesn't work), rear shelf is perfect.
Had wrong tachometer, correct replacement is installed.

    More info......Possible trade down...

For those of you in the know and for what it's worth:

This car, 304178, is a factory Solex carbed car with non-adjustable shock towers. I don't know why this is so, the reason must be buried at the factory. The only difference I know of between this car and the very early cars are the horn grilles, which are 2 screw as opposed to the very early 4 screw cars.

There may be other differences that I am not aware of, my experience with these early (early) cars is limited. I am expressing what I believe to be true, if anyone knows otherwise please educate me.

As a side note: I am open to a trade for a car of much less value as long as it is a matching numbers car with no rust and can move under it's own power.

Very cool car. Are those 165 tires?

  8. #8
    Yes, those are 165 tires.

Probably the coolest thing about this car is the license plate, TES990.

This may be the only 911 with that lettering sequence, only 1000 cars could have started with TES (TES000 - TES999).

Does anyone else out there have a TES plate?

    Regards, Richard

I'd be happy to post the engine and transmission numbers, but the car is in San Diego at the moment and I am in the San Bernardino mountains. Maybe in a few days.
