    Ebay shipping help from Germany??

    Hi,

I've had some offers of help in the past.... can't recall who it was though!

If you think you can help with an Ebay "ship to Germany only" auction, please PM, and I'll give you the details of the item to see if you can help. All packaging, shipping costs I'll handle off course, and if I can help with anything from my end, I'll "owe you"!

    thanks,
    Eric

    personal experience w/DHL

When I ordered my Scheel seats from Gerrit Blankman, he used DHL.
It was the least expensive method and one he had found to be the easiest and most reasonable and hassle free. It was 69Euro to send 2x Scheel 300 seats from Germany to NY. That was 18months ago, so prices may have changed.

    Perhaps if the seller realizes that the customs aspect is not uber-complicated, perhaps they will send it overseas themselves. However, then I see from DHL site for packages sent internationally that are up to 20kg, that;

"Use of customs number compulsory as of July 1, 2004!

In preparation for an amendment to EU customs law, Germany's Federal Ministry of Finance announced in a letter dated 28 April 2003 that anyone involved in customs formalities in connection with imports to or exports from Germany are required to apply for a so-called "customs number." The "customs number" enables the parties concerned to be clearly identified and it is not identical with the VAT identification number. In particular, the customs number is compulsory for use in risk management in connection with the parties concerned, and for improving examinations in connection with IT-assisted customs declarations (viz. "ATLAS").

Customs declarations for imports and exports, as well as forwarding declarations, which are required from 1 January 2004, must contain the customs number of the parties concerned, otherwise the goods will not be cleared by customs.

Individuals or companies acting as customs declarants, exporters, dispatchers or their representatives are subject to the obligation to apply for and use a customs number. Foreign individuals and companies, too, are subject to this regulation. Only individuals who do not expect to be concerned with customs clearance for imports to or exports from Germany more than three times per year are not required to apply for a customs number. Customs offices should have numbers available for such parties.
You may obtain a form from us to apply for a customs number. The form should then be sent to the following address:
    Oberfinanzdirektion Karlsruhe
    Koordinierende Stelle ATLAS
    Postfach 10 02 65
    D 76232 Karlsruhe
Early application for a customs number is advisable on account of the expected flood of applications.
You can also download the form required to apply for a customs number from the following website: www.kost-atlas.de or www.zoll.de"

So perhaps there is good reason that someone from Germany will only ship locally. You could always check with Gerrit about how things work, as he is a very nice fellow.

If it is private party to private party sale, there will be no customs hassle or getting certain numbers or whatsoever. I shipped lots of stuff to the US.

If you still need help, just let me know.
