    1967 911s engine without numbers?

Can anybody suggest an explanation for a 67 911s having an engine (supposed to be a 67 911s engine) without having any numbers on them? How can I reckognise a 67 911s engine?

    thx

I have a friend with a 1967 911S, here in Norway. His car has a correct 67 S engine with no numbers. The papers that came with the car says the crank case was changed under warranty in the US when the car was just a few years old. I guess the dealer that did the job lacked the tools to stamp the correct number or maybe they where not allowed by the factory to stamp cases?
