Any thoughts on the value of a 67S Rally car prepared for Carrera Panamericana? Numbers matching, rebuilt motor, fiberglass front fenders, lightweight engine lid. Full cage. Completed sorted by Hayden + Tyson.

Not Australian car. No history. Car purchased out of a garage in Palm Beach by Phil Bagley (Klub Sport) and later sold to Pennsylavnia where is was converted to a track / race car (fiberglas fenders). Amateur engine rebuild. Converted to rally car by Kent Bain in Connecticut, engine rebuilt again, and fully sorted by Hayden Burvill - H Haywood's race engineer and owner of WEVO. Car was prepared for Carrera Panamericana from which it was, at the last minute, withdrawn due to nothing car related.

Hell, if it is kitted with full rally goodies (100L tank, seats, etc.) + all the other go fast bits, numbers matching and no real rust, I'd pay $40K sight unseen.

Kind of similar to Kenik's reply, it all depends on what was used to build it and how well it was done.

It's hard to valuate a one-off car.
I'd say a good place to start is at the price of a matching numbers 67S. Factor in history, equipment and the state of the world economy and adjust the price accordingly (up or down as necessary).
I'm usually no good at this but, taking a shot from the hip (without seeing or knowing anything beyond what has been posted here), I would say the car is worth somewhere in the $90-100K range.
Of course, I could be waaaaaaaaay out of touch...

Steven,
I think what we're all say'n is we need more info....
Hayden and Tyson give it a great mechanical pedigree..... but
- How much of the car is still an 'S'
- How much hard documentation does it come with...
- If the car has been 'altered' through it's history, can it be brought back
- Have contemporary components been used in favor of period specific
If we have more info and pictures we can be MUCH smarter in our evaluation.......
Cheers,
Chuck

If there is no other history and the car was was just an also ran it's worth the sum of it's parts. It had to be ran in a later event, 911's were not eligible until? Now anything can run.

I have no problem with the theory that all men are created equal.
But after that moment you are on your own and nobody owes you a damn thing.
