Thread: Recent Market?

    Recent Market?

Is it just me, or does there seem to be an inordinate number of really exceptional cars coming onto the market recently? 901 #300170, Bjorn Waldegard's 67 Rally Car, Cole Scrogham's 911R Replica, RS # 16 (the first RS?), one of a very few 993RS's in the US is on the market.

People need cash and see the hot market coming to an end or at least slowing down. Just like houses recently, as demand drops and prices soften, more people are trying to get their money out, so inventory goes up, as well.

Which is great for someone like myself who's been saving money for a good (non concourse) driver.

Top cars and nice original drivers aren't seeing much if any softness, but a solid car with some question marks is where you can really find value now.

    Interesting topic,

I just made a comment to a fellow Registry member that there "wasn't" a lot of good cars available right now in my opinion.... and that the parts offered was also down (yet parts prices up).

So, perhaps I'm wrong, and I do recognize the cars you mentioned. Perhaps it's my own personal "spin".....kinda hard to do a year on year analysis.

    hmmm....

    markets

It seems to me there may be a lot of people selling excess inventory expecting the prices to pull back going forward.
As is plainly obvious in the last month, it is very difficult to predict markets. Remember the stock bubble and subsequent crash in early 2000's? Who would have predicted that car values would climb appreciably?
Remember that fall season is always accompanied by lots of horse trading in cars and it settles down once winter sets in and picks up again in spring. My take is we are in a typical annual cycle.
    My 2 cents.
