    I need help on a 1981 SC

I recently found this car which is located near me (therefore, no delivery or sales tax issues).

I've been searching for a 911SC for several months for a "daily driver" type of car. I've never owned a SC, but I'd like something to go to the wine store in.

Is there anything I need to look for except for the normal studs, motor mounts, and A/C issues? It has the airbox fix. The owner has paperwork back to the late 1980's. It's a California car (so I assume no rust, but I'll be very careful here).

As far as I know, the car has a non-original paint on it, and I have no idea where the original wheels are. It's FS at high four numbers.

With SCs, I always recommend pulling the lower valve covers to look for broken studs.....then a leak down of course.

The car looks to be a Euro.....look for rust and don't trust he milage.

According to the owner, the car is not a ROW. He says that the car is a U.S. car, and one of the previous owners modified it to the European "look". I'll look for the ZZZ in the VIN.

The studs are first on my list, but I didn't consider a leak down test. I guess I should go ahead and do a compression check also? What is normal for an '81? Or should I just be sure all six are almost equal in reading?

That was on my list. I've never owned anything but a 915 tranny. One day I'll move forward.

    Thanks

I always get glossy-eyed over a car and then the more I look into it, the more things fall apart (that should be a Country music song).

The owner says the studs haven't been replaced, and he has receipts back to the late 1980's. The car has 276,000 miles and the engine has never been rebuilt.

Everyone is correct. I should buy the best car that I can find and pay the record new price. Then, I'll never have to make any excuses.
