Excellence - December 2008 - John Audette and More!

Just easing into an excellent new issue of Excellence. Nice story (p.78-82) on a trio of rally cars, one of which Curt posted an awesome photo of just days ago in the Vintage Rally Car thread and...

An awesome, gentle restoration (p. 93-98) of a drop dead georgeous Gulf Blue '73 S from South Carolina. Glad I didn't have to compete with this one at Hilton Head last weekend! But they saved the best for last....

John Audette's very sweet '67 Bahama Yellow (p. 123-127). Very nice article, John. Congratulations!

Really enjoyed this issue - especially the write up on a spectacular SWB. Congrats Audette!

Kind of fun to see 'ol Stubby (nickname - don't ask) in Excellence. I'd like to thank my sterling mechanics, Tim Morris, Ozzie and Jonathan at German Master Tech in Bend for all of their great work on this car. Including the transformation from one photo-shoot to the other.

As always, these cars are great to look at -- but the driving is what makes my duck quack. And this is the most fun car I have ever owned.

    Cheers,

    Ed,

Desormeaux rode Big Brown to a Derby win powering through a field of Thoroughbreds at ease...Big Brown carried him. What a show of power. Last month I had the opportunity to drive John's '67 “Stubby” on the back country roads of Bend. Linsky's article, Quick Change Artist, stated “very neutral handling with no nervousness or sense that the tail is going to come around” is an understatement. Throttle steering through turns was easier than operating a point and shoot camera and braking was equally as responsive. A true early 911 experience, great article and car!
