    bosch fuel pump prefilled? (carbs)

Hi,I have replaced the housing o-ring on my pump and because it was totally full of fuel when I opened it up, I am wondering if it must be filled before installation. Is there a risk of ignition if not completely filled inside? How would a new or rebuilt come? I know the fuel cools the motor.
5 years ago when I brought this car to life the pump was full of gummy varnish and did not work. After I had cleaned everything inside the electric motor I filled it with varsol/solvent before staking the housing back together as I was nervous about sparking causing a serious problem. It worked great.
Do I need to do this again? Has anyone installed a new or used one right out of the box? Are they dry inside? Or am I being over cautious ?

    thanks

You're being a worry wart! However, what you do need to do since the fuel also provides the lubrication for the pump, is to cycle the ignition on/off in short spurts until you hear the pump load down indicating it is now full.
