    Britax seat belt

    Hi.
I have this belt on the drivers side of my car. First I thought they were junk, and planned to rip them out, but after a search on the Internet, I found out they were Britax and could be period correct, maybe also OEM? I donīt know. Interested in comments on this seat belt. Only place I have found pictures is on Edmond Harris and a few ones here on this forum, but not of this exact type.

    britax belts

Definitely period correct, but I would not think that the Germans would put british belts into their car as OEM. Britax was used heavily in the British cars such as MGs Austin HEaleys, and Jaguar. Kangol was a popular aftermarket belt supplier to Mercedes Benz.

    Dear Olin.
I 100% agree with you that it would be very strange for a german to but british belts into a streetcar as OEM, but I wonder if was different with the race cars. Found this earlier info from Cornpanzer:

For what it is worth, the Britax was used in a lot of late 60s/early70s Porsches including the 917. In fact, if you watch LeMans carefully, you will see Steve mcQueen wearing a red Britax.

This car has been in Japan, so isīt logic that someone found this belt there and installed it.

My understanding was that Britax (of various designs) were factory fitted for competition cars such as R, T/R, 906, 907 with Repa not being used untill late '69?

Kangol (silK ANGora woOL?) was itself a British company, by the way. I just found an interesting site with the history of the company, from hats to seatbelts:

OK, they are period correct, but is it possible to say more accurate what year they are from or if they are valuable?
If I could choose, I would have installed sportsseats and repa seatbelts. When I had my E, the two seats in the back was used by my girlfriends little sisters. Now I only have room for one of them because of the Britax

But if they have historical interest, it would be hard for me to rip them out..
This is how the belt is connected behind the seat.

    Thanks
