January 17th 2009 Visit to Simeone Museum - PHILLY AREA

I'm organizing a visit to the above auto museum for the Delaware PCA region. The event is open to any one who's got the remotest interest in cars and will be in the Philly area on the Saturday. Dr Fred Simeone will also be there to host the group.

The crowd that does the Mason Dixon rally will be in attendance so a mix of italian and germany car enthusiasts - hopefully the weather will hold up so we can get some of the weekend cars out for the run.

Delaware people will be meeting the Ferrari chat guys at the normal Saturday Cars and Coffee at Starbucks in the Dilworthtown Center on RT202 and we'll leave there about 10am for the drive to the Museum - which is near Philly airport.

If anyone has an interest please give me a PM or email president@delawarepca.org so I can give the Museum an approx head count.

    Update on the trip

As written by my good friend Jon on Ferrarichat ::::

OK....all you car nuts...I was at the Delaware PCA board meeting last night and all the plans for the Group tour to the Simeone Museum are confirmed. We will be meeting at Starbucks on Dilworthtown Rd and Rt 202 ( our regular meeting place) at around 8AM on Saturday January 17. Then around 9:30 we will be leaving as a group for a spirited drive to the Simeone Museum.
Dr. Simeone has been "Hired" to give us a private tour. We all get group rate ticket prices and you pay at the door. Seniors are additionally discounted. We will be asking for a donation from participants to defray the $150 cost of Dr. Simeone's fee for the private tour. See you Saturday the 17th of January. Jon in Delaware

We expect to get to the museum around 11am, and it's not compulsory to come on the 'spirited drive' to the Museum, but I'm sure you'll enjoy that part if you do. I'm ordering good weather !!.

check the museum out when in Philly

Bloody cold but had the RS out to blow off the cobwebs.

70 people - in 54 cars - a dozen or so Porsche's. Excellent turn out of 356, PCA, BMC and Ferrari members from the mid-atlantic area.

If you are in PHILLY and are looking for something to do this is a amazing collection of cars and is not to be missed. Dr Simeone has collected an extraordinary collection of mainly road racing vehicles - european and american - you will be amazed for sure.

A few pictures are on flickr - search for delawarepca (I don't as yet know how to post a direct link to the pics)

alternatively a few here also from Alex Lee (ferrarichat)
