Whats this contact?

I have this unused contact in my car, never thought about it untill a friend(Schiefer) asked what his was for. Its located to the rear of the electrical panel in the engine compartment. Look at the picture, its on the far left. What is it for? Rear wiper, rear fog, AC stuff? Cant find it in the elec. diagrams.

Did you look at the wiring diagram for the sportomatic? I think that there may have been a relay for the sporto on the engine bay relay panel.

Hi John,

Looking at page 206 of my Haynes, it is a relay for a single stage rear window defroster.
The relay in front of it is the Start enrichment relay. The silver cylinder behind the relay is the RPM sensor.

Who would have thought the Haynes actually had good info!

Harry, thanks but I did not expain my selv well enough, the contact I was inquiring about is the one inside the red ring in the picture. It comes off the wire harnes behind the electirical panel. Harry, you are referring to the round black relays I presume?

There are two connectors like this. the other one is inside the electrical panel.

So the one you refered to is used for sportomatic system. the second for 2nd stage rear defroster.

Thanks Manu, now I just need to find out what this conector has to to with the sporto setup(I do not have a sporto, but understand that this is incorporated in all these cars as standard) The connector inside the electrical panel(for rear defroster) is similar but has space for 6 pins, se picture.

Sorry for misunderstanding. Fortunately, those smarter than I figured it out. I did not see the connector in the back. And yes I am referring to the black relays.
