    1968/1970 distributor interchangability?

Hi all, I have a Marelli distributor in my '70 T motor in my '68 911. Needless to say, partso unobtaino.

I want to replace it with a Bosch, but I want to get a cast iron Bosch to be period correct for '68.

Will the cast iron Bosch fit and work with the crank gear on the '70 motor?

I will get the distributor rebuilt and recurved, so that is not an issue.

Oh, and if these do interchange and anyone has a good rebuildable cast iron Bosch for sale, PM me.

    Thanks!

    Mike,

No problems with interchangability, fitment, or crank gear compatitibility.

    Go for it,...

    Hi Mike,

I have a 68 911 and it uses an aluminum distributor. I too love the cast iron with the badge, but I think the aluminum bosch unit is correct for 68. 912's went to aluminum distributors in 68 with the 061 and 031. Maybe smog related change.

Possibly in 68 they used cast iron early and then switched to aluminum later..
