WTB Does anyone have an old donor tub that has a driver side door post with the correct recess for the rear lid pull for a 67? The later replacement quarter panels have an incorrect depression, not the hemisherical recess.
Thanks
Tom

How much of it do you need? I have 3 sets of rear quarters for a SWB and most have been cut (not by me) with no regard to the post.

A few people have offered to help. There was a question as to what a correct SWB door post looks like. I borrowed an image from a thread. I hope the owner doesn't mind. Mudi, if your post has the recess for the rear lid release with this shape, I would like to take you up on your offer. If it doesn't. I will make a template and sent it to Rick2 to see if his pieces may work. thanks guys. tom

Hi,
Here is another pic in case it helps. On this car we replaced the entire SWB rear wing which as you say does not inlcude the recess for the lid pull. This item was removed from the original panel and grafted in.
New wing
now with the section you are looking for

Tom, PM sent.
Blue car picture is my 67 S door post, that I believe to be original.
Other picture is what I have in my parts from the 72 I bought.
They look the same to me.. Let me know..

Hi,
The change was 67-68 MY. Mudi do you know when your car was made?
I just checked my files which show that area and I have owned/worked on 9 67s (911 and 912s) and all have had the deep socket for the lid pull. Not sure if that helps.
Alan
I remember the build date being in the early months of 67, but i don't have coa here to look at..
On that thought, maybe it isn't original.. I'll have to look at the paint work. the car did get hit in in the drivers side door at some point and maybe it was replaced... Hmmmmmm.... Nothing surprises me anymore..

Alan, your images are exactly correct. The replacement panels have the later style shallow depression, not the golf ball size hemisherical recess of the original panel. My rear panel was relaced in the 80's and it is not correct. Back then, it was a SWB targa, no big deal, who cared. Mudi, it looks like your rear panel has been replaced also. You are in the same boat I am. Richard, thanks for the link. Thats just what I need.
Thanks all. Tom
