catalogs so salesmen could buy gifts for their clients. the "stick" umbrella first appears in the '69 edition. these photos are from 1970. they appear as late as '73, but I don't have any catalogs after that point. anybody know how long the AA catalogs went ?

Which makes the 917 about 5 times more expensive than Porsche's top model, back then.
Indeed it was a lot of money and I believe they did not sell many 917s at the Geneve show.
A friend of mine was a Porsche dealer at that time. He recently told me that he went with his father to Porsche Stuttgart to buy some cars, and they were offered a 917 at special condition; he wanted to buy it but his father replied he was an idiot and it was better to get 3 911S for the same money. He was a guy and had to follow his father opinion, today is quite sad about it!!!

About the Advertising Article catalogs ( wow, I've never seen that one, is dated 1970?), they exist also in the 80's and 90's. They became the accessories catalogs.

I really enjoy reading the text, it is like buying a normal car, so funny. Thanks.
