    front bumper mount question

    another puzzle.
on removal of my front bumper i discover 2 differing mounts.
both look pretty old, but i know the car has had front end work.
every support i've seen looks like the one on the right.
what's up with the reinforced version on the left?
a later safety upgrade, similar to my post re rear bumpers?
    opinions?

I just happen to have my '73 front bumper off while doing an extensive rewire for higher output high and low beam bulbs and its mounts resemble the one on the right. Sorry but no idea on the left one.
