ghosts of early 1965....strange Factory bulkhead markings

Here's an unsual discovery I thought the community might like to see.

Yesterday tracing back a switch I got in and under the dash for the first time in 17 years.......

Now, my car's an original unrestored non-molested 3 owner car, the 1st RHD 911 delivered locally and ordered in 1963.

Have a look at what I found inscribed under the dash.....proof I guess that the early cars were largely handbuilt. Not sure who Paula/Paulo is, but Hallo from 43 years in the future.

    Location under dash:

It doesn't look like the same handwriting to me - the numbers are classic European-style handwriting, with the stylised '1' etc. Obviously factory.

The other looks like a kid might have done it, whilst lying on their back under the dash - the sort of thing kids do.

I remember doing something very similar to my Dad's SC back in the early 90s. I felt very naughty, but that was part of the fun.

Exactly what I was thinking...but the second name might be "Pancho."

"Hallo" rather than "Hello" indicates European origin as well.

    ....unlikely kids.....

I love this theory, it's just that owners #1 and #2 were both eccentric, very wealthy and were without children......

My little monkies have had only supervised access to the car.

    Aren't those dates?

    18.7.90 and 13.7.90? July, 18th and 13th 1990?

I doubt it passed a factory check, especially if it was a early chassis.
Porsche did have a rather handbuilt assembly line but I dont think workers would write, visible for future clients, under the dash some funny notes on one of the first new cars they would built.
Just think how the factory did hide handwritten chassis notes ingeniousley behind dashboard and/or front windshield.

Hallo Pancho is rather more "Hallo Paulchen", a diminutive german expression for Paul.
Edited: could be "Paulcho" too !
Dates: July 18th, 1990, September 13th, 1990. Euro or Uk style where you write day/month/year.
They are written more proffessional but I recall factory pens have been rather pale colored and are wax based.

Still, must be great to have a 1965 car !

...the second owner was 85 years old in 1990

    Hi Richard + 911T1971

Cool. Thanks for the possible scenarios.......

However- no one was allowed inside this car in July 1990....I bought it in 1992 from the second owner whom at the time was 87. I first saw the car in his garage at his mansion 1989 and tried to buy it from that day hence.

He was very particular - it's unlikely someone was in his garage (or e.g. a service garage) under his dash here in Adelaide Australia writing in European script in 1990.

Knowing the owner, this just wouldn't have happened. The same mechanic (that coincidentally did the pre-delivery inspection at Hamiltons Melbourne in 1965) looked after the car all it's early life (yes, one mechanic only 1965-c.1997) & at the owners insistence was the only one allowed near it- but that's another story.

It's fun to speculate, but the markings seem to not be dates and don't correlate to any VIN/ID numbers.....For example, watchmakers sign the caseback of a Rolex watch when the service it, but I can't see this car having had similar signings- it just never had such work.

Great theories......thanks for the posts. It's a mystery- not important, but interesting nonetheless.

Action: original '65 owners - please examine under you dash too.....

    Cheers + thanks

The last writing of the numbers might be a calculation:

    18710
    13990
    ------
    327XX

I would agree with Zithlord, the second part is defenitely a calculation and the first part is of German origin. I can imagine that it might be a message for the inspector or other worker further down the assembly line named Paul...
I found as well some marks from the days the car was built:
