    Dizzy Help

    Hi all,
I have a 2.2T motor that I am wanting to upgrade to "S" specs. I was told that I need S or E P/C's and dizzy. I found a dizzy that is part number 0 231 159 001 jfdr 6 and he thinks it is from an early euro S. Any idea if this is what I need and any idea of value? Thanks in advance. MArk

Since you don't seem to be obsessed with authenticity, why not just have your existing distributor recurved to S specs? Jerry Woods and many others will do it for you.

That is also a very good idea. I just want to do what is the most cost effective. As for authenticity, I don't want to do anything that isn't reversible since the car is numbers matching but I also want to make it fun to drive.

    0 231 159 001 is from a '67 911 (non-S)

    '67 S distributor = 159 002

    '69-'71 911E distributor = 159 006

    '69-'71 911S distributor = 159 007

    Carrerax,
If you are after "S" specs, you will require "S" pistons and cams, 2.2/2.4 -36mm heads, carbs/MFI, etc.

Another configuration for you to consider is a 2.2 to 2.4 upgrade using E-cams, a 2.4 or 2.7 crank, carbs/MFI, 2.2 heads. This gives you a relatively high compression (10:1..ok on street gas w/o twin plugging) engine at 2.4L. These components will not be as pricy, as the S stuff and you will end up with a very good street rod motor. I built a 2.7 with E-cam, carbs, SSIs and JE 9.5:1 pistons. It was a lot of fun! i love the E-cams.

    P&Cs

Just a comment on the P&Cs: I opted for the 2.7RS MFI ones because I found them to be cheaper than the S ones and I could run it on regular pump gas w/out twin plugging the heads($$$$). The significant difference other than capacity was that the RSs are nickasil, and the Ss were biral.

Al, I would prefer to keep from splitting the case if possible. The motor is good and only has 59k original miles. Not to mention money. I just cant swing it. I have looked at the torgue curves and I do like the E ones a bit better for my application. I have had several peaky cars (E30 M3's) and although they are a blast to drive I would rather have a broader power band for this car. I also want to keep with Carbs. Ideally I want the best reasonably priced compromise. Im hoping just cams, pistons and maybe a dizzy or alter mine.

Please continue to give me advice!! I need it.
