    Tuning Trumpets -- Plating

I have a set of Trumpets from the top of my MFI stack that I want to refinish. I have a set in good condition, and a set with some slight pinpoint surface rust. I am thinking of plating them, but honestly do not know much about how I should prep them and finish them.

Input to educate me me on the pit falls will be wonderful, and if you know of a good shop that will be even better so I can talk with them.

Ultimately I am thinking of going with rain shields and those little tea cup filters that I saw on an earlier post.

It might be more cost effective to simply purchase chrome replacement velocity stacks. I think they're still available. The factory versions I'm familiar with are plastic. More knowledgeable minds can correct me.

    plating

I sent out a set to a good plater and spent 100-150 to plate them. The outside looked great, on the heavy side, but the inside was only OK. Some new ones I've seen had a better interior finish and not so heavy a chrome layer on the outside which I think looks more original.
