If this car was sold new in Delaware, then it would be a 66 model year. Maybe built in late 65 calender year. I don't see the VIN in the ad. No 911's came to the states untill 66 MY.
If it was a true 65, then that price would be cheap.
Can you please post the VIN, if its above 301950(approx) it probably build after the summer of 65, and then its a 66 model car. If the VIN on the other hand is below 301950 it might be a genuine 65-modell and more valuable. You can find all the data on this by searching this site for "final transition".
If you look at most litterature available they state the VIN number for the production years, not the model years and are therefor not the most accurate info you can use. A lot of people has been fooled by this.

Catchy tagline they have:
"Keep up the hate...."
What's THAT all about?
Rick, I think many would differ with you on this, which was Baron's point. I have seen no difference between the prices of true '65 MY cars and 4 hole horn grill, Solex motored MY66 cars built in '65. For that matter, the prices of 2 hole horn grill '66s seem to have almost caught up with '65s.
Bottom line: all pre-'S' SWBs aren't getting any cheaper. For that matter, it is just a matter of time before the next great revelation in Porsche-dom will be how "the '67 Normale is the forgotten Porsche" and then everyone will want one. So it goes.

The United States introduction of the 911, was held in San Francisco on July 23rd,1965 as a 1966 model. Porsche Cars Pacific put on the event. No cars were sold in the U.S. market through dealers before this intro.
This subject has been beaten to death on this board and Pelican. For MY 65 only, I think it is agreed that June 65 was the end of MY 65 production. As stated above, it was right around VIN 301950. Bob Flemming, where are you!
I have the event photo.
My argument was simply on valuation, not on the VIN and production month break between model years. You are (obviously) 100% correct on those - numbers don't lie.

I figured that out after reading your post a couple times. I tend to be mentally slow at my age.
In Europe I would say the market makes quite a value difference between 65 model and 66 model. I guess its different in the US.
BTW I agree with Kenikh, none of these cars are getting cheaper.
