Cars and Coffee in Irvine Ca....changes coming

I was asked to post this by Freeman Thomas, co-organizer of Cars and Coffee

    All,

I just returned from Cars&Coffee. Way too many "normal" cars in the display area. We had to close the "Display" lot at 7:15am because of overcrowding. Today was not the vision of C&C. We have decided to "re-calibrate" Cars&Coffee, starting next Saturday Feb 7th and future Saturdays, only "pre" 1978 and "Special Classic Automobiles" will be allowed into the "Display" lot. All others will be directed towards the "Spectator" lot and parking structure. There is a new "Every Saturday" car show starting in Orange County that may appeal to many enthusiasts starting March 7th at the "Orange County Market Place". Please pass the word.

We'll all still be there...as the weather gets better more cars, better cars to see

I liked when the first "fast and furious" Japanese mashinery started to show up as it added more diversity and also brought younger enthusiasts closer to the older classic cars and the hobby.

However, it did get a bit too big and welcome the change to go back to the roots and the initial vision.

As overheard last Saturday: "What is worse than 50 Honda 2000's? Another one."

    See you there Saturday.

Can't we all just get along!

We need to tell the English cars to stay home, too. I nearly boke my neck when I slipped where one of those things was parked on Saturday!

I hope so, but i haven't asked Freeman yet. The plan would be to do it on July 11th, 2009.

I guess this means if I managed to get a GT 2 or 3 that I'd be locked out. I'm locked out anyway since I have a somewhat backdated Carrera. Nevertheless, it's an '88. I've seen a few Ford GTs there. Since they are new millennium cars, are they out too? How can you call them "classic?" Shame.

I was never a fan of the "store bought" cars ... there were four Nissan GTRs there the weekend BEFORE they were officially released to the public. I mean, c'mon ...

Bring out the vintage iron and the occasional, uber-rare new car and I'm content. I may even make the trip this weekend to see what happens.

I figure I can still park my Ducati in the display area, right?
