    Tipping for Shipping

I'm trying to budget for vehicle shipping so I was just wondering what you folks are tipping these days for vehicle transporation drivers who do a good job. Since it's "expected" that we tip 20% at restaurants, I wanted to gauge what the going rate is for truckers. I have a message out to the company itself but wanted to get your opinions as well. Thanks all!

    tipping madness

i may be out of line here, but why tip at all?
i'm sure he's getting paid well to do his job.
its different with wait staff who get below minimum wage and relay on tips to
earn a living. if you gotta do something, a uniquely american pov, buy him lunch.
its the same thing with ups and fed-ex, they are not the pizza delivery guy.

We move tons of freight, 50 to 60 trailers per week, we do not tip the drivers nor do they rely upon it. I do not understand why you would tip a transporter.

I ship a half dozen cars a year. I do not tip unless the driver has jumped through some pretty serious hoops to meet a deadline - and that only happens one out of ten times.

I don't generally tip them on a percentage basis. I usually just flip the guy a twenty and say something like, "I really appreciate it, let me get your lunch today"
