Niceee . . . I like the simplicity of it . . . looks like you did it in just a couple minutes . . . lets see another shot.

Thanks Tom. It was a quicky but I've always liked the sketchy, unfinished style. People are probably wondering why I posted this... kind of wondering myself... I hope this motivates me to get off my butt and finish it, and perhaps even start more.

Nice Mark. You could really have a ball just painting vintage 911s with many of the famous liveries, Martini, Brumos, Sonauto etc... I say go with it and have fun.
Cheers

Very cool Mark. It's not uncommon for me to prefer sketchbooks over finished art. There is something more genuine behind simple pencil strokes that often have far more character than a loaded brush stroke. Plus I enjoy reviewing the thought process behind the sketches.

Mark;
Keep going - I know exactly what you are going through .
Art is a B----h and she doesn't like to be second fiddle to anything.
Get out of the routine and you can kiss her goodbye - or at least you have to suffer and overcome the feelings of powerlessness and lack of confidence that fills the vacume.
At least that is the way it was with me.
Chateaubriand ou rien.
I miss those days when art was all I had to do.
Good luck.
Keep posting the progress.

Thanks John, I have CS2 for the Mac. Thanks for the encouragement. When I was in college studying graphic design, I fancied myself a painter but I've never felt I had the talent or the discipline. That didn't stop me however. I struggle with the process big time. I'm an immediate gratification kind of person and that just doesn't happen with painting. At least not MY painting.
Bob: I agree with you and you're right: It's interesting to view the thoughts of the artist. In many ways, the sequence of visual thoughts are more compelling than the final product. I'm more used to sketching people. Cars are very difficult for me because the dimensions have to be accurate or the drawing doesn't look right. It takes many sketches to get one I feel good about.
thanks again you guys.
Hope I'm not off-topic with this
Here's my TZ1 painting
It was/is never easy for anyone.
I always hate it when people say "at least you are doing what you love"
When I wasn't drinking turpentine maybe...
But I think Picasso understood the modern problem of the process vs time (and this 50 tears ago) - When asked if it was harder to be a painter now he replied that Velasquez didn't wear a wristwatch.
And Camus' short story of The Painter - a giant white canvas that the artist spent months holed up creating and goes mad - in the very center were the words "solitary or solidary" - no one could be sure which it was.
Fun stuff.
