    Alloy Brake question

    Hopefully another simple question.

When was the transition from the old alloy "S" calipers to the new alloy calipers?

All references I have found show ’69-’72 (old) to ’72 -’76 (new) transition.

So was the cut off in mid-year ’72, or was this a ’72 production for MY ’73?

The question is, what would be proper alloy calipers for a late ’72 911T, invoiced APR, delivered JUN and optioned with the following:

402: Koni shock absorbers front with”S” brakes, Koni shock absorbers rear?

    Hi,

I am not sure if this helps but

The transition IMO is during the 72 production year, this is based purely on experience of stripping and working on lots of 72 cars.

    Thanks

So the '72-76 later "green" tinged "Alochrome (1200)" caliper would or could be correct for a late '72 MY.

Whilst an early MY '72 with a build date in late '71 may have been fitted with the earlier alloy as the factory used up the old stocks.

Thanks much for the link, your efforts are appreciated, any pictures of the calipers with alochrome (1200) anodizing or do the ones above match up well?

    hello gtgroup3,

maybe it helps: my 2.4S delivery june 1972 has still the original calipers, never refurberished and still in good condition.

IMHO: Your surface treatment does not look original and I would stay away from such a glossy finish. We are just talking about brakes.

    Best regards
