    Thumbs up 20 and counting….

Yesterday marked the 20th year I’ve owned my ’73…..

I bought it on a cold wet evening after work after looking at early 911’s hard for about 2 years.

It seems like a long time ago now……
    I was 4 months away from my 40th birthday……. not my 60th
I was in my second year at Disney... not thinking about retirement
And......the car had 86000 miles on the clock…… not over 203,000

    But I wouldn’t trade a minute or a mile of it ……

It’s been a continual adventure that has brightened my life, challenged both me and the car, and brought me together with some of the best people I’ve ever met……

This is what started it all 20 years ago…
A small ad in the 2/10/89 San Fernando Valley Recycler…

BTW – The engine was not rebuilt, only the top end was done at about 55,000 like most ‘soft’ 2.4’s. The case wouldn’t be split for another 14 years……

    More to come….

    Cheers,

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.

I hope you get at least another 20 more years of fun and exitement

This is inspiring for me, since I traded in my 912 for my 911S when I was a few months shy of my 40th birthday, I've had it for 4 years now and I'm really looking forward to next 16 years!

    Congratulations
    Henry

    These things are addictive.
20 years of ownership of my 73RS passed in December 2008 and I have owned my 930 Turbo for 22 years.

As 'flipper' you're a failure!!,but as someone who enjoys his car, and the friends that go with it, I'd say you're very successful! I've had mine 25 years now and have kept on with it for the same reasons you have. You keep leading the way Chuck, and I'll try to keep up
