Thread: Cars and Coffee = 917

    Cars and Coffee = 917

This morning I went to Cars and Coffee in Irvine, Ca. As I was walking through the lot, past a 2009 GT 2, I then walked by a very nice replica 917.

Shortly after, I was asked by R Gruppe member Scott Hendry about the 917. I said, "must be one of those Australian ones, really nice"

Scott said, NO, its REAL, owned by a So Cal Car Collector. I ran back took a few with my iPhone...NOT a replica, the real deal

Normally I would not post, but you just NEVER know who is going to bring what to Cars and Coffee

If you are in So Cal, you have to come by on ANY Saturday morning

Are those covers for the horizontal fan, MFIs, and 2 rows of 6 stacks or are they just forms to fill the space? I've seen a number of replicas that run flat-6 engines that have similar? Any other pics to show detail better?

Yep, when I walked up, I saw the cover. Said to myself, self, must be one of those Australian replicas. Then I kept on walking....

Its REAL. The book on 917's was open to the page of the car. No other proof needed for me.

Scott, I was not there the Saturday of the GT1. I know guys are still talking about it. If remember names, the owner of the GT1 is the same owner of the 917? Your uncle?? BTW: You have a PM

Yep, pictures say it all.... would be so cool to see at a weekend car show. Glad to see the owner gets it out to see the sun every once in a while.

No. That's Chris. My Uncle Dave brought the GT1 in a enclosed trailer.
