thinking of putting stuff on Ebay, think again
Have you seen the latest final value fees??? 8.74%, 12%, 15%

    add another 4% for Paypal:

sold an item for $2500 and the fees were $340???
better readjust your strategy or your prices!!!

    ebay

Who really looks at category "auto parts: vintage: exterior: electrical" to find a part anyway? Sell it under "childrens clothing" if it's the cheapest I guess.

Yes I know another well known used parts seller that has switched to Pelican, the fees are crazy.

I'm not an ebay groupee, but I've been selling and buying on ebay for many years. Their fees suck but it's good exposure. However, for car parts, the 8.75% fee is only for the first $25 -- equal to $2.19. After that, they're pro-rated on a final value sale scale. If you did the basic auction-style listing without a bunch of upgrades, you should have only paid $58.81, plus $4 insertion fee for your $2,500 auction. If you were charged $340 for a $2,500 final-value auction, you should contact ebay immediately. Here is the fee structure:

Fees: Equal to or Over $1000.01 -

Final Value: 8.75% of the initial $25.00 ($2.19), plus 3.50% of the initial $25.01 - $1,000.00 ($34.12), plus 1.50% of the remaining closing value balance ($1000.01 - closing value)

If it was a Fixed Price auction, you should have only paid $93:

Fees: Equal to or Over $1,000.01 -

Final Value: 12.00% of the initial $50.00, plus 6.00% of the initial $50.01-$1,000.00, plus 2% of the remaining closing value balance ($1,000.01 - closing value)

I got it straightened out, twice my item was clicked on for BIN and they were (0) feedback jokers. they charged it 3 times. Although the fees for Ebay motors is higher 9% instead of 6% upto first $1000, it adds to $126 for my $2500 guitar! much better but it used to be 2.9% to sell stuff there!

the problem with CL is its a hit an miss, exposure is limited and it may take longer to get any action, also many people dont follow thru saying they'll be right over and dont show.

BTW did you catch this on the bird?
