    not sure

may be, but he did lower the BIN. Maybe it was an effort to pull the high bid up just a little more.

$12,750 for a 912E, Am I missing something? Why would anyone even want this car, A 911 with a VW type IV motor. I understand the early 912s, they at least had a Porsche 356 motor.

Apologies in advance to members of the 912E Registry

That was what I was thinking. A 1976 912E does have value, but I don't see $12.7K for one with the A/C not working.

The 2009 SCM guide says $6.5K-$9K (which sounds too low).

If I was the seller, I would have accepted the bid at $12,599.

I think the Fed Bumper 1974-1977 911's are a good value if the bugs have been worked out.

TYPE IV's can ROCK. Let Jake Raby show you how.

    http://www.aircooledtechnology.com/Home_Page.htm

200hp without issues. Torque as flat as Kansas too.
The 3 main bearing 356 engine is weak and will fly apart with too much tweaking. Ka-Boom!!!

BTW; The 1st Porsches were VW engines (1100cc monsters).

    Best,

I agree Jack makes a fine product, I think they offer a big bang, for a 356- outlaw, 914, bus kit car. But 912E is way to heavy for a stock type IV, its a very slow car. To make that car perform like a 911, its $12,750 plus another 13K ( "starting at") for motor. 26 grand buys the nicest midyear 911 on the planet.

    2615
    Horsepower Range: 210-225 Torque: 200-210
    Engine Kit Price - $7000-8000
    Turnkey Engines starting at $13,000
The 2615 is an all around performer with a ton of torque and smooth,
extremely usable power. Most 2615 engines are fuel injected with bigger
exhaust systems from Tangerine Racing being mandatory for proper engine
    operation.

If you want big power this is the largest of our catalog engines, above this
level everything is full custom with no limit on performance except how far
    your wallet can open!

That sounds reasonable to me in these days of $40K-$50K 2.0L Porsche 911 race engines.
