    Did European vehicles have the VIN sticker in 1970?

    My French delivered 73 has no vin plate on the A pillar or door jam sticker. It took all my charm to get the car registered at the CA DMV 3 years ago...

    I have a German delivered 1970 S. The only VIN plate / sticker is the one under the front hood. In 1985, I had to put the VIN on a plate in the middle left of the front windshield as part of converting it for import to the US. As part of the import process, they added a sticker to the doorjam, showing it was imported. I could not tell you if it origionally had a doorjam sticker, as the car had been repainted, but there was nothing there when I got the car.
