Help with steering rack rebuild info...

Im wanting to go through my steering rack before putting it back in. It only had 59k miles (1970 911t)but it has been sitting for 25 years so Im thinking the grease my be dry etc. The rack still feels good but I just hate to but something back w/o going through it. Anyway, I have searched on the bird and can only find out how to rebuild an SC one but they are different. Please let me know if anyone has a good link or inexpensive resource. Thanks in advance! Thanks for the bump. I finally decided to just seal the cover back up and hope for the best.

There was a link on Pelican, probably the SC one that you found. I'll go with that one. Seems nobody wants to get involved in this issue. My 68 sat uncovered, on the Texas gulf coast for about 20 years. The rack is a little rusty but should be easy to shine up and the grease is like thick mud. So, I'll adapt the SC method.

I just deleted my bump when I noticed the thread on Pelican.

There is an extensive procedure for this in the Factory Workshop Manual.

My Factory Workshop Manual for my '68 just says that the steering assembly does not need service. It shows a drawing of the internal workings of the rack but has no service information for the '68 or '69.
