The spark plug wrench is for 68? I do know that 65-66-67 had another spark plug wrench.

Tool it guru's what year is this kit correct for?

Plug wrench is 68 to mid 73
Drivers are 69 to mid 73.

So, it could be a 68 kit, w/ wrong drivers, (but still good to sale/trade drivers)

or, it's a 65 to 67 w/ wrong plug wrench and wrong drivers... but all items in kit are early tools...

Assuming that the wrenches are all "drop forged steel"....

A few questions for you tool kit gurus

Bag looks to be smooth finish so it's an early one, yes?
Was the early Messko gauge not in a grey pouch?
Should there be a fuse packet to complete the kit?

Looks a nice set of tools in good condition. Good luck with the sale.

    Regards

OK guys. I have a bunch of tools and extra bags. I just looked to Scott Turnbull's picture of a 'SWB' tool kit @ $2K and tried to match the tools up the best I could. I do not have a correct '66 spark plug wrench, I guess. I do have 1 Klien screw driver (look at photo below). Here are a couple points as to what's in the kit and people have questioned...

    The bag's exterior is smooth.
The air gauge bag is grey.
    No fuse packet.
The wrenches all are drop forged steel.

I have many other bags and tools that I will be posting for sale. I am moving and need to divest myself of some of it. Here is a photo of some to give you an idea:

    Well,

There are 4 different bags from 65 to 68.....at least as far as "finish" is concerned:

    1) imitation naugahyde (1968)
    2) a texture similar to a mens pinpoint shirt fabric (1967)
    3) a horizontal texture, kind of fabric like, (1965,1966)
    4) same as 3, but "different" (not in front of me, sorry), also 1965/66

I've seen leather bags for the Messko for the 1964/65 356 C/SC cars that were "real", but most of the time it was a grey plastic case for the Messko.

Yes, it should have a Pudenz fuse pouch, but no red bag for the pouch, that's for the travel kit only. The fuse pouch's usually fell out, or got trashed immedietely, and trying to buy a real one now is big $$ as the 356 guys want them too!

I have an NOS 1973 toolkit and it came with a spare lug nut... just like the 356's did. Never seen another 911 toolkit bag with one.

So, anyway, very nice kit. I would like to see a closeup of the pliers, appears that it might have the "chromed" head like the ones for the 69 and later cars. The earlier cars had a satin finish on the head. Note that the chromed head pliers is just as rare and valuable as the satin finish pliers in my opinion.

    cheers,
    Eric

Here are photos of the pouch. You pick the pliers - chrome head, or no. We can switch out the lug nut wrench too if needed.

Andrea, Where did you disappear to??? After you posted and sent me an email that you wanted this tool kit for your '68S I boxed it up, took it to the post office to be weighed and priced for delivery, and got right back with you that same day. A email would be nice. Now I had to cut the box open and those little Styrofoam peanuts floating everywhere... errr.
