WTB; oil filter holder for 70/71 S oil tank

I need to get hold of a oil filter holder for 70/71 S oil tank. The S-tank had a special holder attached to the tank with provision for the extra aux oil cooler lines. My original one is to pitted around the edge that holds the rubber O-ring.

    Thanks

    Hello John,

    In case a picture helps.

The entire units (with lines and thermo) do not come up for sale that often and thus finding the console on its own may be hard.

Hope you manage to get it sorted

    Thanks

    Alan

Thank you very much Andy, yes its the black piece I need, but I realice I might have to buy the whole thing with lines and all. If I do not get hold of one I will post a picture of mine in the technical section in regards to repair/using my unit as it is. BTW should the black piece realy be painted black, mine was not?

    John -

Do you have an oil leak where the oil filter screws on and seals against the o-ring? I have a very small oil leak that seems to be coming from the o-ring on my 1970 911E. I am wondering if I may have the same "pitted" issue?

I have / had the same problem. Fixed it for now with new gasket between the oil filter holder and tank, and tightening down the oil filter a little tighter. Next step is JB weld to fill in the pitting and build the lip up a little. That is how I am approaching it anyway. Tried to get a new part over 10 years ago with no success. But by keeping corrosion away from it it hasn't gotten any worse.

David, I will try to explain. The consol that attaches to the tank it selves (black with lines in Andys pic) has a round black O-ring between the tank and console. The edge that holds the o-ring in place has bad pitting and I am afraid the o-ring will be squized out when I torque the 3 bolts that holds the console to the tank, because part of the metal edge is gone. I have not checked for leaks, so it might be OK but I want a perfect on for my restoration.

I hope my explanation is possible to understand, my english is not up to standards!

My console does not seem pitted but I have major oil leakage in that O-ring area when driving hard.

I pulled the big gasket thing out and it had been folded over and creased when someone installed it last. It is old and worn and does not seal well.

Where do you get replacements? Pelican only sells a part which is an oval/oblong piece which is not correct for 1971 911S. They do not have any round ones.

Thanks for any help. Sorry for the hijack.

I bought all the rubber parts from Porsche Norway. Are you thinking about the large rubber that is held in place by a metal ring? That seal shoul nat have anything to do with a oil leak. Dont worry about hijacking!

It is the seal between the console and the oil tank. I had to spin off the oil filter, then remove 3 allen head screws from inside the oil filter mount in order to remove the rubber piece from between the console and the tank.
