I have matched colors on factory new, aftermarket and on unrestored cars.
I found the red on unrestored and factory stripe is usually closer to Bahia than Guards until recently I received some old stock and strangly enough they were Guards. Most aftermarket are way redder than Guards or Bahia.
The green is usually very close to Viper or Conda on both factory and aftermarket. I use the factory formula as a start.
The blue causes the most problems. I have never seen a factory or aftermarket stripe even close to Mexico. The confusion comes from the books referring to Mexico. My best guess is that the Mexico blue discription was different in 72 than for the production color for 74 cars. A good example is Glacier Blue..it is a very different color from 70 to 83.
The main thing is that they could not match the wheel paint very close to the vinyl used for the stripes. If you study a unrestored car you will see that they don't match as well as current restorers do.
All are custom formulas to match the stripe that you order even the 74 Gold.
    Hope this helps.
